Neven Maguire cooks at the House of Waterford Crystal

The culinary expertise of Ireland’s favourite celebrity chef Neven Maguire was on hand at a cookery demonstration on September 12th. The House of Waterford Crystal provided a fabulous setting for the night. The event was held in conjunction with the Waterford Harvest Festival, with proceeds going to the Waterford Hospice.

Guests were treated to wine and canapés on arrival, inspired by Neven and produced by the WIT Culinary School.

Neven showed how easy it is to produce quality dishes using simple ingredients and fresh produce, highlighting to all present the importance of buying and using local and Irish produce where possible.  He created a stout-Braised Shoulder of Pork with Apple and Potato Puree, a classic Tiramisu and demonstrated how to make spun sugar baskets, getting two members of the audience to give it a try!

With prizes during the evening that included a meal in McNeans House and Restaurant (Neven’s own restaurant) and Waterford Crystal John Rocha Hatboxes, tickets were in high demand.

There is no doubt that Neven is truly Ireland’s greatest chef. He wowed the audience with recipes and techniques, posed for endless photos and signed books.
