Things to do for Families
Waterford is lucky to have a very large public park right in the City centre, about five minutes’ walk from the Quay. It's been around since the 19th century but a great deal of work has been put into it over the past couple of years. In addition to the lovely ancient trees and grassy areas, there's a cycle track, a running/walking track, an unusual water feature, a band stand, a couple of original canons, children's playgrounds (one for young kids and one for those a little older), and even a skateboard area.
Run A Muck
Run Amuck is a 10,000 sq. ft. purpose built children’s activity centre in Tramore, Co. Waterford. It has fantastic play facilities with an excellent, healthy eating café for everyone in the family to enjoy. In Run A muck they have three separate play areas for kids to run free in a safe secure environment. A baby area with soft padded animals and a ball pool. The toddlers from 2 – 5 years old can play in a two level climbing frame. There is a lager frame in Run Amuck for the 5 – 12 year old kids, who have lots to keep then entertained.
Activate Waterford is Waterford city’s newest and most innovative indoor family activity centre incorporating a children’s soft play area, bowling, climbing & bouldering, an intimate state of the art 3D cinema, a café and lots more. Activate has something for everyone to do.
Copper Coast Mini Farm
A warm friendly welcome awaits you and your family at the family run Copper Coast Mini Farm, Waterford. It is fun and educational for all the family, a safe child- friendly environment where kids can interact with the animals. Some animals are native to Ireland whereas some are of the more exotic kind. Situated in a sheltered cove in the idyllic village of Dunmore East, in County Waterford. Dunmore East Adventure Centre provides water and land based outdoor activities to adults, kids and families. Activities including kayaking, rock climbing, windsurfing, archery, pedal boats, stand up paddle boarding, open canoes and orienteering, to name but a few.
Waterford & Suir Valley Railway
All Aboard to Experience the Magic of Rail! The magic of rails golden age has been brought to life in Kilmeadan, Co Waterford. A heritage narrow gauge railway follows the route of the abandoned Waterford – Dungarvan route, from the station at Kilmeadan into Gracedieu Junction.
