Historic Surroundings In Ardmore

The tranquil village of Ardmore is the perfect spot for some Autumn sun and fresh air! It's about an hour and a half drive from Waterford City and there's plenty to see once you arrive.

The village is the oldest Christian settlement in Ireland and boasts the best example of an Irish round tower which dates back to the 12th century and stands 29m in height. The Ardmore Round Tower would have served as a belfry and place of refuge. The ancient site includes Cathedral ruins, with stone carvings depicting biblical scenes, and also fascinating ogham stones. 

After you've checked out the round tower, take the wonderful Ardmore Cliff Walk for stunning coastal views. The walk is a 5km circular route that takes about an hour, passing through the village and other sites such as St. Declan’s Well & oratory ruins. Ardmore Beach is another popular spot for a stroll. Swimming, kayaking and other water activities are available. 

Looking for something that the kids will love? The Ardmore Open Farm & Mini Zoo is set on 22 acres and is perfect for a fun-filled family day out. they have a variety of small exotic animals, reptiles and farm favourites - from miniature goats to marmoset monkeys! There's also a playground, indoor 3 tier play centre, go-karting, a maze and more.
