Meet The Team - Master Craftsman Noel Power

Team Lead & Master Craftsman Noel Power recently celebrated 50 years since he started working with the Waterford Crystal Brand.

Noel works as a Team Lead here in our beautiful Showroom at House of Waterford, but he actually started out as a wedge cutter! In April 1972, Master Cutter, the late Paddy McDonald, a family friend, told Noel’s parents that Waterford Crystal were recruiting apprentices. At the age of 16, he jumped at the opportunity and went on to complete his 5-year apprenticeship, starting out at the Johnstown factory and then moving on to the Kilbarry site where he became a Master Cutter. Noel worked on many beautiful pieces over the years including the Kennedy bowl.

During his 34 years as a craftsman, he represented the company as an Artisan demonstrating his cutting skills and taking part in signing events. These events mainly took place in the USA and Noel met lots of Waterford Crystal fans and customers who love our products.

In 2004, Noel decided it was time for a change and he joined the Sales & Marketing team in the World Sports Department at Waterford. As part of this new role Noel worked closely with the sports industry and travelled to many different trade events in the USA, UK and Ireland including the Irish Open.

When House of Waterford opened on The Mall, Noel applied to join the sales team and went on to become a team lead. He loves meeting people from all over the world and offering his wealth of knowledge on all things Waterford! His favourite piece has to be the Maritana Vase, as Noel loves the intricate cutting details of this piece and the story which inspired its design

In his spare time, Noel enjoys the outdoors – swimming, cycling, and walking, he is also kept busy helping with his grandchildren!

We would like to thank Noel for his service and the wonderful contribution he has make to the Waterford brand over the past 50 years! What an achievement!
