Forging Celtic Connections For Waterford In Glasgow

Scotland's premier winter music festival and celebration of Celtic music, Celtic Connections, is under way right now in Glasgow. A number of tourism enterprises from around the island of Ireland – including the House of Waterford Crystal – joined Tourism Ireland at the festival, to highlight our tourism offering to potential Scottish holidaymakers and to help showcase our rich cultural heritage.

A B2B workshop was organised by Tourism Ireland in Glasgow, to coincide with Celtic Connections – with the various Irish/Northern Ireland tourism representatives meeting and doing business with influential Scottish tour operators and travel agents. The event provided a valuable opportunity for the participating companies to showcase and sell their product and to communicate what is unique about Waterford and the island of Ireland as a holiday destination.

Vanessa Markey, Tourism Ireland's head of Great Britain, said: "Music and culture are vital components of the tourism experience and platforms such as Celtic Connections help us to spread the word about Waterford and the island of Ireland as a premier holiday destination with an appealing cultural offering for our visitors, particularly among our near neighbours in Scotland. With an exciting programme of events taking place in 2014, our message is that there has never been a better time for Scottish holidaymakers to come and visit."
