Celebrating St. Patrick's Day 2021!

 

St. Patrick's Day is fast approaching and we want to share some of the ways you can get involved in the celebrations from your own home.

This years virtual St. Patrick's Day Festival, with the theme 'Dúisigh Éire!/Awaken Ireland!', strives to inspire people across Ireland and the world 'to rise to embrace brighter days ahead'. The festival program will be made up of various online events from music, theatre, art, performance, poetry, storytelling, traditional arts, virtual tours, food, and culture.

St Patrick’s Festival TV is on Oireachtas TV, on all Irish TV platforms, plus worldwide online at stpatricksfestival.ie and on rte.ie/culture from March 12th -17th, daily from 9am-11pm GMT.

Get Involved in the Virtual St Patrick's Day Parade

In Waterford, many of our landmark buildings will be lighting up green for the virtual St. Patrick's Day Parade in celebration of our national holiday. You can get involved too by tagging #RTEVirtualParade #HappyStPatricksDay and #StPatricksAtHome online with photos and videos of your at-home celebrations!

Learn about Ireland's culinary history in the 5 part mini-series 'A History of Irish Food with Tadgh Byrne'.

Watch performances from marching bands across Ireland and the world as they play a selection of traditional and contemporary arrangements of some of your favourite tunes on 'Bands of Ireland presents: Play On for 2021'.

Inspired by stories and legends from Saint Patrick’s time right up to modern day Irish poetry, 'The Saint Patrick Show - A Musical & Visual Tale'  is a 45 minute show featuring 2021 Grammy nominated Fontaines DC frontman, Grian Chatten, Matthew Campbell from the Shamrock Tenors, soprano Mary McCabe, and other Irish artists.

'The Patrick’s Day Hug - Barróg Lá Fhéile Phádraig'  brings together the best of Irish Traditional musicians in Dublin's legendary venue 'Whelans' for a wownderful night of tunes. 

As a finale for the celebrations, the St Patrick's Day Party will broadcast LIVE on 17 March from three of Ireland's best-loved pubs and will bring a festival of music, Irish dancing, special guests and a few surprises right into your living room. Tune in from 7pm to 8:30pm GMT on 17 March at Ireland.com.
