STEP BACK IN TIME...

OLD WATERFORD

After your visit to Waterford Crystal, we invite you to join us for an unforgettable guided walking tour of Waterford's rich and colourful history.

The Viking Triangle Experience takes you back to the time of the Vikings who first founded Ireland's oldest city and brings you up to the Victorian period. This tour is an absolute must for any history buff.

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

- At Reginald's Tower hear how Reginald the Viking founded the city in 914.
- Discover why Greyfriars Friary was founded in 1240 and closed 300 years later by King Henry VIII.
- Learn about Waterford's medieval deans and bishops in the 13th century Chorister's Hall.
- Visit the medieval mayor's wine vault and hear why he gifted it to the Church.
- At Christ Church Cathedral stand on the spot where Strongbow and Aoife were married in 1170, changing the course of Irish and British History.
- In the Victorian Theatre Royal relax and be regaled by the stories of Ireland's greatest and most colourful operatic composer, William Vincent Wallace.
